Figure Drawing Anatomy - Feet

This is a 1 hour drawing of a human foot using a 6B pencil. The focus of this drawing is the composition and getting the detail in the complexity of the foot, and this is shown in both angles of the foot from the sizes in toes, the shape and the light and shadow in the foot. The drawing on the left shows good composition in the toes, where as the the drawing on the right shows shows good composition at the back of the foot and how it curves inwards from the back of the foot to the big toe, and also the shape of the ankle balls.

This is a 15 minute drawing using red and orange soft pastels on a sheet of purple sugar paper. The focus of this drawing is the light and shadow on the body which is created by a spot light hitting the body, and in this case the light is hitting the back of the body. Theses 2 contrimental strongly show the light (orange) and shadow (red) in some detail.

This drawing isn't a detailed drawing but it shows different shades of shadow and different brightness of light, and even though the light isn't hitting the front of the body, some light is visible at the front which hints that the skin of the human body has some very slight reflection properties or the light was reflecting off the wall and back to the front of the body.

This is a 1 hour drawing of a taxidermied yak, drawn in the Leeds city museum, using a 6B graphite stick. The focus of this drawing was the head of this animal as it has very interesting features such as its horns. The composition is good especially in the head as this animal is very big with a massive skull, so making sure the neck is the right thickness is also good composition as the sternocephalic, brachiocephalic and omotransverse muscles would have to be big in order for this animal to carry the weight of its head and horns.

This drawing isn't perfect, but this drawing shows good composition throughout the drawing and it allows the eyes of the viewer to wander around the drawing from the head onto the hump on the back and along its back to the feet then around back to the head. Also from the direction of the drawn lines it shows that the drawing isn't a flat drawing making it look 3D, and adding depth to the drawing.
